UBS OneASEAN Conference, Singapore

Last week UBS, the leading investment bank headquartered in the Switzerland, held their OneASEAN Conference in Singapore with three days of fast-moving panels and speakers on a broad range of topics facing business and investment in Southeast Asia.

Hoang Thu Huyen, General Director of Asia Business Consulting, was pleased to speak on a panel entitled "Made in Southeast Asia: The next factory development", joined by Ian Betts, Managing Partner, Castle Asia, and Suresh Vembu, Director and Corporate Secretary, AKRA, and hosted by Sukrit (Mike) Friestad, Thailand Analyst, UBS.

The discussion provided diverse opinions and information about how much of Southeast Asian manufacturing is affected by re-shoring, what industries see the region as part of their manufacturing strategy and solution to supply chain struggles of the pandemic era, and to assess whether the economies of Southeast Asia are still competitive, even in the face of labour and cost challenges.
